Springboks use Actiheart HRV monitoring to establish Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning (IZOF) in RWC.

The Springbok’s Phycologist (ex-South African, based in Harley Street, London) used the Actihearts with the goal kickers and some of the other decision-makers to monitor their HRV processes. The main reason for this was to establish Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning (IZOF) profiles for critical moments reactions and the impact it had on performance under pressure. HRV is a useful tool for psychological performance purposes, as it gives an indication of limbic system activity which will have an impact on decision-making/ judgement, motor execution and communication under pressure, as well as general self-regulation.
