The PRO-Diary
CamNtech developed the PRO-Diary in order to try to address some of the criticisms associated with other methods of subjective data capture. Asking questionnaires via paper diary is generally unreliable as there is no record of when subjects actually answered questions. PDA based systems can be bulky and easily lost or misplaced as well as generally having a very high upfront cost associated with configuration of the questionnaires.
The PRO-Diary is a compact wrist-worn electronic diary which is ideal for collecting all types of subjective data. Questions can be asked at given times, random times or can be user initiated. The PRO-Diary is ideal for use in clinical or medical research applications but is also in use in many other applications including market research. The PRO-Diary system is supplied with configuration software which allows the user to configure any questionnaire for use on the diary. It can also optionally play back audio prompts for each question (standard WAV files) to help visually impaired users answer correctly.
The PRO-Diary user interface consists of a touch sensitive ‘slider’ device and two other buttons. It is designed to be easy to operate, and can ask questions of six different types:
- Multiple choice (up to 8 options, though fewer is simpler for the user)
- Visual analogue (choose a point between the left and right ends of a scale)
- Enter a time (for instance, what time did you wake up?)
- Enter a number (for instance, rate your pain on a scale of 1-10)
- Simple prompts with no answer (for example, as a reminder to take medications)
- List (for instance, choose your current activity from the list of 20 below)
Medical/Clinical Applications
The PRO-Diary is ideal for medical and clinical research applications. It can be used to monitor compliance, prompt the wearer to take medication and confirm that they have done so and can be used in a variety of therapeutic areas to collect subjective questionnaire data. - Pain, pain reduction and quality of life (QOL) questionnaires

Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials
